Austin Pacelli High School's production of "Androcles and the Lion," a musical adaptation of Aesop's fable about the lion with a thorn in his paw, premieres at 7 p.m. Friday in the Pacelli auditorium.
This "Gladiator"-esque adaptation centers on Androcles' and his wife's journey through the desert from Macedonia to Rome, during which they encounter the lion. Trouble ensues when Androcle's wife is enslaved and he angers the Roman emperor. Will the lion return the favor and save him?
The musical, directed by Jared Petersen and starring Pacelli students, continues its run at 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. April 12 and 13. Tickets are $3 for students, $5 for adults, or $15 for families.
