MANKATO — The road misery for the Austin Packers softball team continued on Thursday with a 9-3 loss to the Mankato East Cougars.

With the loss in Big Nine Conference play, the visiting Packers dropped to 0-3 on the road this season. This was also the fifth overall loss in a row for the Packers.

Mankato East improved to 8-0 on the season with the home win. The Cougars, who earlier in the season ended the 51-game conference winning streak of the Mankato West Scarlets, remain on top of the Big Nine standings.

Austin (2-6, 2-6 Big Nine) returns home to Todd Park today to host the Elks Tournament. The first game of the tournament for Austin is scheduled for 5 p.m. against St. Peter.
