ST. PAUL — School records were broken by the Austin boys track and field team on Friday at the Hamline Elite Meet.
The competition Friday night featured Minnesota's top nine athletes and relays in the state competing head-to-head in each event.
Henry Darling of the Austin Packers ran to a first-place time of 49.23 seconds in the 100 meters and broke the school record for that event.
The 4 x 400 relay team also set a new Austin High record with a first-place finish in a time of 3:23.19.

Will Darling placed second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 39.74 seconds. The 4 x 800 relay team finished second in a time of 8:04.30, and the 4 x 200 relay team was 11th on the night with a time of 1:33.04.
"That's the first time school records have been broken in many years and the guys had two in one day," Austin coach Tony Einertson said. "They ran well against the best competition in the state."
Joining the girls team this afternoon, the Austin boys will play host to the Packers Invitational at the Larry Gilbertson Track. The first events started at 10 a.m. and will go on for most of the afternoon hours.
