A Saturday morning parking restriction on two blocks of First Avenue Southwest in downtown Rochester goes into effect this week.
The restriction, recently approved by the city council, affects the two blocks of First Avenue between Center Street and Second Street Southwest. The merchants there have complained that employees take spaces that customers would use.
The restriction bans parking between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Saturdays, when many employees arrive for work.
The city’s parking meters and parking ramps, including the meters on the two blocks of First Avenue Southwest, remain free on Saturdays.
