ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Patricia Jo "Patty" Buske Townsend will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons, Kan., with the Rev. Timothy Wangerin officiating. The body will be cremated. A private burial will be held in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons at a later date.
Mrs. Townsend, 66, of Parsons, formerly of Rochester, died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 2004) at her home.
Patricia Curtis was born March 12, 1938, in Parsons, where she grew up. She attended school there and graduated in 1956. On Jan. 5, 1958, she married William G. "Bill" Buske in Parsons. They lived in Salina and Topeka, Kan., while Mr. Buske served in the U.S. Air Force. The family then moved to Rochester in 1965, and Mrs. Buske worked as a secretary. They also lived in California and Alabama before moving back to Parsons in 1969, where she worked as a legal secretary for several years. She also worked as a secretary at Parsons Custom Products, Malone and Parsons Motors. Mr. Buske died May 6, 1998. On March 12, 1999, she married Dave Townsend in Las Vegas. Mrs. Townsend was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons, the Sunflower CB Club, Parsons Business Women's Association, and a life member of Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She was currently serving as president of the third district of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed arts and crafts, cross stitching and camping.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Ronald Blaine (Cindy) Buske of Charleston, S.C., Kevin William (Sherry) Buske of Winfield, Kan., and Steven Wayne (Kelly) Buske of Parsons; one daughter, Julie Ann (Jerry) Manweiler of Lawrence, Kan.; one stepson, Ronald Joe (Evelyn) Townsend of Quapaw, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Cindy Lou (Kent) Stewart of Troy, Ohio, and Natalea (Ron) Hile of Aschaffenberg, Germany; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry (Judy) Curtis and Ron (Bonnie) Curtis, both of Parsons.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
