AUSTIN — The funeral for Peggy J. Olson will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Crane Community Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin.
Peggy Joyce Olson, 74, of Austin, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 2008) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Peggy Burns was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Blytheville, Ark., and attended school in Blytheville. On March 10, 1952, she married Richard J. Olson. They made their home in Arkansas briefly before moving to Austin in 1954. In Austin, Mrs. Olson worked 19 years at Wendy’s and eight years in the dietary department of Austin Medical Center. She attended a local Methodist church, where she taught Sunday School, and enjoyed sewing, cooking, bowling, and shopping. In June 2008 she entered Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Pam (Paul) Byron of Atlanta and Paula Coddington of Austin; four grandchildren; and two brothers, M. B. Burns of California and Basilee Burns of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Lena (Weaver) Burns; three sisters, Ruby, Betty and Shirley; and two brothers, Mayburn, and one as a child, Morgan.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and an hour before the service Wednesday at Crane Community Chapel.
