Pepsi puts money into Russia

NEW YORK — Soft drink and snack maker PepsiCo Inc. said today it will invest $1 billion in Russia during three years.

PepsiCo called it part of a long-term strategy to expand in emerging markets. The investment brings the total investmnent by PepsiCo and Pepsi Bottling Group Inc. in Russia to more than $4 billion.

The money will be used to boost manufacturing and distribution capacity in Russia.
