Peterson appointed to humanities board

WINONA — Mark Peterson, executive director of the Winona County Historical Society, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Minnesota Humanities Center Board of Directors.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty also appointed Lisa Belak of St. Paul.

Peterson has been director since 1983.

The center is a nonprofit group affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities. Its mission includes professional development, early literacy workshops and bilingual and heritage language programming.
