Pickup crashes into SE Rochester building

Post-Bulletin Rochester, MN

The driver of a pickup truck lost control of his vehicle and crashed it into a used car lot building today in southeast Rochester.

The driver did not appear to be injured, according to a report from the Rochester Fire Department, which responded to the incident at about 5:50 p.m. No one was inside the building at the time.

Firefighters shut off natural gas and electric services to the damaged First Credit of Rochester building, located at 1106 15th Ave., S.E., to guard against a possible fire and explosion, said Battalion Chief Steve Belau.

The fire department is investigating the incident and estimates $50,000 in damage to the building. The truck, valued at $25,000, is a total loss, Belau said.
