Austin police cited an 18-year-old man after finding him apparently sniffing or huffing spray paint in a bag Sunday afternoon.
An officer cited the man for having a toxic substance, Police Chief Paul Philipp said.
Responding to a report, police found the man about 3:30 p.m. at Second Avenue and 19th Street Northwest, Philipp said. The man had spray paint on his fingers and chin as well as a bag that had a strong odor of paint.
The man also had a spray paint bottle in his possession.
