Two juveniles might be charged with a crime after bringing a gun into a high school hockey game in Austin.
Police were called to Riverside Arena at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday; the Packers were about to take on the Mayo Spartans of Rochester. One of the boys had dropped the gun and it was spotted by a spectator at the game.
Police Chief Paul Philipp said the gun turned out to be an air pistol loaded with rubber and plastic pellets, but the gun could easily have been mistaken for a 9 mm handgun.
The gun belonged to a 12-year-old boy but was dropped by his 14-year-old companion, Philipp said. Both boys are from Austin.
The matter was referred to the Mower County Attorney's office for possible charges.
