The Austin American Legion baseball team will open the First District playoffs on Sunday night with a road game against the Rochester Eagles.
Austin Post 91 is the ninth seed in the tournament and thus, has a play-in game with the eighth-seeded Eagles in Rochester.
The other play-in game features 10th-seeded Kasson traveling to Tink Larson Field for an elimination contest with seventh-seeded Waseca.
This first round action is single-elimination as the loser goes home. The winners of this weekend’s games then advance to the double-elimination brackets of the tournament, which start on Tuesday.

All of the Legion post-season games are nine innings in duration.
The Rochester A’s (Century) will be the No. 1 seed and host the semifinals and finals of the tournament. The Rochester Redhawks (Mayo) are No. 2 and the Rochester Patriots (John Marshall) are the No. 3 seed.
Winona LeJetz was in a three-way tie for the second seed, but received the No. 4 spot based on tie-breakers. Owatonna Post 77 is the fifth seed and will travel to Winona on Tuesday night. Albert Lea is the No. 6 seed in the playoffs.
The remaining eight teams will then play the final rounds of the double-elimination tournament at Rochester Century High School with the winner advancing to the Division I State Tournament on July 30-Aug. 2 at New Ulm.
