PROFILE Kate McCoy 11th grade Century High School

Date and place of birth: March 17, 1985 in Joliet, Ill.

After high school, I plan to ... attend the University of Wisconsin-Stout and major in nutrition.

My dream job is …; to be a world-famous singer!

The accomplishment of which I'm proudest: Traveling around the United States for national singing competitions.

Favorite movie/TV show: "Ghost"/"The Osbournes."

What are your favorite things to do outside of school? Cheerleading, singing and girls' night sleepovers with taco dip.

Name one thing you'll remember about your life as a teen: Getting through all the hard times and ending up A-OK.

My trademark cliché; or expression: "Is there going to be food there?"

What would your last meal be? Chinese and chicken -- no doubt!

Who is the person you admire most and why? My little brother, Matthew -- he fought for every day he had and lived to the fullest.

What is your favorite memory? As a child with my brothers in Florida.

What is your favorite class? Why? Algebra II, because I finally understand it.

Describe yourself in one sentence: I'm not what you think, but I have everything I need.

What's your biggest pet peeve? When people act like they know it all.

What makes you laugh? My best friend, Kelly, when we put Dots candy on our teeth.

Name your most positive characteristic. I'm compassionate.

If you could spend a whole day with any person, living or dead, who would it be? My little brother, Matthew. I miss him so much. I would just ask him how heaven is and tell him I love him one more time.

The biggest problem facing teens today is ... self-esteem and self-image issues.

My advice for parents of teens is …; please don't act like you know what's going on because you don't all of the time.
