WINONA — A 19-year old man was injured Friday when his car collided with a dump truck in Winona County. The crash backed up traffic and led to another two-car collision less than an hour later.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Ford Fusion driven by Will Allen Wandersee, 19, of Wyoming, Minn. was eastbound on Interstate 90 just after 6 a.m., when an International Dump Truck driven by Gregory James Smith, 56, of Houston merged into the right lane of eastbound I-90 from the ramp at Minnesota Highway 43. The Ford changed from the left lane to the right lane at the same time and collided with the dump truck.

Wandersee was transported to Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, Wis. with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another two-vehicle crash happened just before 7 a.m. at milepost 250 in Warren Township while traffic was still backed up from the earlier collision. According to the report, a Ford Focus driven by David Allen Stoen, 28, of Mabel was eastbound on I-90 when it rear-ended a stopped Honda Pilot driven by Nicole Christine Woehrle Beatty, 41, of Rochester.

Stoen was taken to Winona Health with non-life threatening injuries.

The Winona County Sheriff's Office, Wilson Fire Department, Winona Area Ambulance and the Minnesota Department of Transportation responded to the scenes.
