RED WING — A collision between a turning car and a motorcycle sent a Mankato woman to the hospital Sunday.

Susan Kay Schwichtenberg, 61, of Mankato was driving north on U.S. Highway 61 approaching the intersection with Goodhue County Road 18 when a 2011 Dodge Caliber driven by Katherine Marie Fiksen, 70, of Dodge Center, that had been stopped, turned to cross the road, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol. As the Dodge crossed the highway, the two vehicles collided.

Fiksen was not injured in the collision. Schwichtenberg was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Care-Red Wing with life-threatening injuries. She was listed in serious condition Monday afternoon.

The Red Wing Police Department and Red Wing Ambulance also responded to the scene.
