A 24-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in an apartment building hallway Wednesday night in Southeast Rochester.

Rochester police were called to Meadow Park Apartments, 412 14th St. SE, at 9:41 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Capt. Casey Moilanen said Thursday morning that the shooting occurred in a third-floor hallway in the 1430 building.

A 24-year-old Rochester man had multiple gunshot wounds including one to the chest, Moilanen said. The man, who was not a resident of the building, was transported to Mayo Clinic Hospital - Saint Marys Campus.

No other injuries were reported.

Moilanen said that the incident "does not appear to be random" and that the alleged shooter and the man "probably knew each other."

Less than 12 hours later, Moilanen said it was a very active investigation. No arrests had been made as of 9 a.m. Thursday.
