BYRON – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early morning incident in the Byron Middle School parking lot after a woman reported a man blocked her vehicle as she tried to leave.
Olmsted County Sheriff’s deputies received a report of a suspicious incident that occurred around 4:50 a.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of the Bryon Middle School, Capt. Scott Behrns said.
A 48-year-old from rural Byron had gone to the parking lot to meet her running partner. The woman pulled into a spot and was waiting for her running partner to arrive when an older red vehicle pulled into the parking lot and parked right next to her, Behrns said. The woman reported that the driver of the other vehicle stared at her, and when the woman tried to leave by backing out of her parking spot, the other car blocked her way for about 20 seconds.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident. A person nearby witnessed the incident, and law enforcement collected security camera footage from the school.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
