Carr denies he aided transfer

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Lloyd Carr reacted Friday night to a report that indicated he helped Justin Boren get his release from Michigan and complimented Ohio State’s program before the offensive lineman transferred earlier this week.

The Columbus Dispatch reported in a column Thursday that Carr, according to an unnamed person close to the situation, told Boren that Ohio State is the closest thing to Michigan that he would find and there are "good people" in Columbus.

"That’s a lie," Carr said through school spokesman Bruce Madej. Carr retired after leading the Wolverines to a win over Florida on New Year’s Day after leading college football’s winningest program for 13 seasons.

Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said Boren plans to put on the scarlet and gray after sitting out the 2008 season as required by NCAA transfer rules.
