Quarterfinal loss ends Century's season

Rochester Century's girls basketball season ended with a 58-49 loss at Eagan in a Section One, Class AAAA quarterfinal on Wednesday.

After trailing 21-7 early in the second quarter, Century got as close as three points, at 52-49, in the final two minutes.

"We got off to a slow start, but like the rest of the season, we battled to the final buzzer," Panthers coach Tim Strain said. "I know we gave them a scare down the stretch."

Sara Leidall had a game-high 18 points for Century, while Lisa Tlougan added 14. The two combined for five three-pointers, with Leidall making three.

Century finished the season with a 10-17 record. Eagan, now 11-15, advances to the 1AAAA semifinals. The Wildcats face Rosemount on Saturday at Mayo Civic Arena. The 1 p.m. game is followed by the second semifinal between Rochester John Marshall and Lakeville.
