Quite a week for scores

Wow!

That is about the only way to describe the first-week honor scores.

Leading the way were some well-known names from the area, like John Meitzner, who rolled a 300 game en route to a solid 781 series. Matt Kirkham also had a hot hand, posting his first 300 of the season and rolling a 774 set during the week.

Coming close to perfection were Dave Adams and Mike Pearse with 299s and Mel Durden, who capped off the honor scores with a 298. Taking over the top spot for series was Chris Hough, shooting a nice 783 series at Byron Lanes.

Also at Byron, Donata Kitchens set the new mark for women's series with a 689.

Tip of the week

During your next practice session, try not keeping score. Instead, work on playing different shots on the lane (i.e. from the first arrow, all the way in to the sixth arrow). Keep in mind how many times you hit your target and not if the ball hits the pocket for a strike.
