MILLVILLE -- The funeral for Rachel E. Hein will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Church of Christ in Millville, with the Rev. Jerry Melby officiating. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery.
Mrs. Hein, 78, of Wabasha, a longtime Millville homemaker, died Wednesday morning (April 10, 2002) at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha.
Rachel Emma Shones was born Feb. 11, 1924, in Millville and attended elementary school in Millville. On April 8, 1941, she married Charles H. Hein in Bremen, rural Millville. He died Dec. 14, 1997. Mrs. Hein lived in Millville until entering St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in May 2000. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and its Ladies Guild, a charter member and first president of the Millville American Legion, and a member of Millville Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two daughters, Margie (Ronald) Hoops of Lake City and Darlene Leisen of Burnsville, Minn.; two sons, Maynard (Sandra) and Eugene (Jan), both of Millville; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris (David) Wadley of Millville and Delores (Donald) Plank of Marshall, Ga.; and two brothers, Francis (Gladys) Shones and Leroy (Vera) Shones, both of Millville. Two sisters and a brother also preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
