SHAKOPEE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Racing commission has approved a new horse racing track -- a combined harness racing track and card room to be built in rural Anoka County.
Wednesday's vote during a hearing in Shakopee reverses the commission's decision in October to deny a license for the $47 million track.
The track would be built west of Interstate Highway 35 on Anoka County Road 23. Construction could begin this spring, with racing to begin in 2006. A seven-day, 24-hour card room could open after the first full year of racing.
