Nine area high school football standouts have been selected to play in this summer’s 35th annual Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game, to be held June 28 at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud.
Among the players chosen are two talented senior running backs from Rochester — First Team All-State player Mario Butler of Rochester Mayo and speedster Leon Clark of Rochester Century.
For the first time, all four Rochester high schools are represented, as John Marshall’s Ben Kall has been selected, as has Jason Rodriguez-Cruz of Lourdes.
Other area players chosen: the state’s all-time leader in receiving yardage, Blooming Prairie’s Elliot Herdina; Caleb Rissman of Triton; Zane Ziebell of Lewiston-Altura; Zach Gran of Caledonia; and Patrick Falk of La Crescent.
Eighty-five players have been selected for the game, which will pit a Twin Cities metro area all-star team against an outstate all-star team.
