Rarity: Timberwolves follow win with another win

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Minnesota Timberwolves coach Randy Wittman worried his team might have expended too much energy in Friday’s comeback victory at Orlando, so all it did on Saturday night in Memphis was score a franchise-record 43 points in the first quarter of a 114-105 victory.

Six days after he shot the Grizzlies to victory at Target Center, Mike Miller (back spasms) watched from the sideline with three other Grizzlies (Darko Milicic, Javaris Crittenton and Jason Collins) and the team still came within one of its rebound record. The Wolves’ 62 rebounds — including a season-high 24 offensive rebounds — were one short of the 63 the Wolves hauled down in an April Fool’s game against Phoenix three seasons ago.

Four Wolves — Ryan Gomes, Al Jefferson, Kirk Snyder and Corey Brewer — reached double-figure in rebounds.

"I don’t think we’ve had four guys do that before," said Wittman, who gave Jefferson and Randy Foye extra rest Saturday. "I know we haven’t."
