ORONOCO — Oronoco City Engineer Joe Palen says there would be 246 parcels assessed in the city water system project, with 141 of them being in the historic downtown area.
He’s recommended an assessment of $6,216.43 per parcel for downtown property and $1,000 per parcel for land in subdivisions because less work will be needed to connect them to the trunk water main.
Once the water system is built, the city will charge $10 for the base rate and $2.50 per 1,000 gallons, meaning the typical monthly cost for the average household would be $22.50. Also, the user rate structure would increase by 3 percent each year.
