Ray Dixon — Rochester

ROCHESTER — A memorial service for Ray Dixon will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Macken Funeral Chapel in Rochester, with the Rev. Bruce Buller officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.

Mr. Dixon, 82, of Rochester died Monday, June 11, 2007.

Ray Dixon was born Aug. 30, 1924 in Minnesota. He married Alice Erath in Rochester. She died in 1987. He worked in the lathing business for many years. He retired from Rochester Public Utilities as a coal crew foreman. He was a master storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a gentle, quiet man and deeply loved music, playing cards, animals and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Gwendolyn (Bruce) Dixon-Beckett of Monterey, Calif., Charlie of Rochester and Cathy (Dave) Witte of Harmony; and nine grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and one grandchild, Josh.

Friends may call a half hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.


Memorials are preferred to Paws and Claws.

Macken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
