LeROY -- The funeral for Raymond W. "Cotton" Stahr will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the LeRoy Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tom Kolden officiating. Burial will be around 3:15 p.m. Friday in the Dysert, Iowa, Cemetery.
Mr. Stahr, 78, of LeRoy, a retired farmer, died Tuesday (July 15, 2003) at Spring Valley Care Center where he had lived a short time.
He was born Nov. 18, 1924. After completing his schooling, he worked at Rath's packing plant and John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa. In the mid-1950s he moved to LeRoy and farmed in partnership with Sam Montgomery until retirement. He enjoyed going to his cabin in northern Minnesota and his July 4 picnics in LeRoy.
Survivors include two sisters, LaVonne Draper of Lanesboro and LournaWedemeier of Hudson, Iowa.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of the service Friday at the church.
