HIBBING -- The Rochester Community and Technical College men used a late scoring run to blow open a close game and beat Hibbing Community College 87-68 on Friday night.
The Yellowjackets led by only four points at halftime, but the second half was a different story. RCTC went on a 10-0 run midway through the second half and put the score out of reach.
John Freeman led RCTC with 24 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Trey Boyd also had a big game with 19 points and a trio of assists.
"Freeman took over on that decisive run with two three-point plays," RCTC coach Brian LaPlante said. "He finished at the free throw line and we did a good job of defending in the second half as well."
RCTC (8-2) plays at Rainy River in International Falls today at 3 p.m.
