RCTC notes: Linebacker Trevor Glomski (knee) and RB Will Christopherson are likely to return from injuries. Taylor Selby (foot) is facing surgery and might miss the entire season. CB Jhrvonte Minnifield (neck) is expected to return, but others will miss the contest. Most likely out are WR DeAndre Jackson (elbow), RB Donte Holland (ill), OL Chris Gibbs (wrist) and LB Stephen Barnes (ankle). LB Alex Larson (shoulder) is doubtful. After the first week, Minnesota coaches list RCTC as the top team in the state and Central Lakes No. 2.

Vermilion notes: Vermilion entered the season ranked 25th in the nation. The Vikings beat RCTC 30-0 in the 2006 state championship game. Vermilion has a lot of team speed on both sides of the ball. Defensively the Vikings use a lot of three-man fronts and do a lot of blitzing.

Up next: RCTC plays its home opener Saturday. The 3 p.m. game against Itasca will be Homecoming.
