RCTC closes national play

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Three Rochester Community and Technical College golfers concluded play Thursday at the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament.

Freshman Leah Fanning closed with a 104 at the LPGA International course, a par 72. That put her in 73rd place out of more than 100 golfers and made her the top finisher among Division III players.

Laura Holtan and Jennifer Routh had back-to-back finishes for the Yellowjackets. Holtan finished in 96th place after a 117 on Thursday. Routh had a final-round 118 and finished in 97th.

"The girls probably played as well as they could with the length of the course and conditions," RCTC coach Brad LaPlante said.

The coach said it was windy, humid and there was some rain during the final day of play.
