Rochester Community and Technical College swept a doubleheader against visiting Minnesota West on Monday in Rochester.

The Yellowjackets won the opener 7-4 and followed with a 6-3 win in the second game.

DeeAnna Mock won the first game, allowing four runs on seven hits with one strikeout. Catlin Donahoe had two hits and an RBI, and Whitney Hawes had two hits and three RBIs for RCTC. Kelly Shaner added two RBIs.

"We had some hard-hit balls right at their players in both games that could have helped open the games up if we could just find an open spot for them," RCTC coach Jean Musgjerd said.

Wendi Irlbeck pitched RCTC to victory in the second game, allowing three runs on three hits and just one walk. Amy Fordham, Kate Loken, Hawes and Liz Christensen all had two hits. Fordham had two RBIs.

"We need to turn up the momentum in doubleheaders like this," Musgjerd said. "Every game matters in conference play for the postseason and the players need to realize this. Hopefully we can jump on the ball a little bit better in our next outing."

RCTC (2-0 MAC, 9-1 overall) is scheduled to play host to Riverland in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday.
