WABASHA — The defending champions in the Three Rivers Conference are finding life on the road a little tough so far in this baseball season.
The Southland Rebels played an away game on Monday for the second time this season and the result was the loss of their second conference game.
Wabasha-Kellogg took advantage of four Southland errors on the day to win 5-2 in the Three Rivers contest. Mitch Heimer took the pitching loss for the Rebels.
"We gave up five runs and only one was earned," Southland coach Scott Retterath said. "Walks and errors did us in. We out hit them, but we just had too many miscues in the field.

"Pretty soon we won’t be able to use the excuse that we have a young team. I was encouraged with the hitting and hopefully, with more games we’ll start to get better in the field."
Southland (2-2) continues a long stretch of road games with a trip today to play Lewiston-Altura.
