Rebels baseball aust 4-15 DONE

Post-Bulletin staff

WABASHA — The season started for the Southland Rebels baseball team in the same way it ended last year, with a loss to Wabasha-Kellogg.

This was originally scheduled as a home game for the Rebels on Monday, but the field was too wet at the Southland Athletic Park. Due to the field conditions in Adams, the venue was changed to a home game for the W-K Falcons.

While the Rebels were playing in their season opener, the Falcons won their third straight game. After the Rebels scored a run in the top of the first to take the early lead, the Falcons took control in the middle innings and built a 6-1 lead.

The visitors rallied for a final run in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the large deficit. Kody Retterath took the pitching loss for the Rebels. Matt Schroder led the Rebels offense with three hits in the loss.
