The Southeast Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross kicks off its sixth annual Red Cross Heroes campaign today.
The Heroes Campaign is a month-long fundraising effort with a goal of raising $75,000 for local Red Cross services.
Several area businesses are gearing up to join the campaign in a variety of ways, including new contests, events and individuals.

Among the new events is a wine tasting and silent auction, Pour Out Support, hosted by Pescara, said Kris Martinson, volunteer and community support coordinator.
Youth involvement is also growing this year with Hats for Heroes, where students are allowed to wear hats to school when they make a donation, she said. Student council members at Holy Spirit School are selling healthy snacks during the month to reach their goal of $1,000. Lourdes High School will have a Casual for a Cause day, where students will be allowed to dress down for their contribution, she said.
The campaign runs the entire month of May, so there is still time to be a Hero. Individuals, teams, businesses, clubs, schools, or colleges can be a Hero for the American Red Cross by committing to raising $1,000.
All of the dollars raised will help support services provided by the Southeast Minnesota Chapter serving Dodge, Fillmore, Olmsted, Steele, and Wabasha counties. The Red Cross is not a government agency and depends on voluntary contributions from the American people.
