A second annual campaign to raise money for the Mower County Chapter of the American Red Cross is running through the end of May.
"Heroes for the American Red Cross" is a countywide, grassroots effort to strengthen the chapter’s safety net and raise money to help residents prevent, prepare and respond to emergencies, a news release says.
Last year’s campaign raised more than $14,000.

A major focus is increased awareness of Red Cross programs and services.
Many financial institutions across Mower County are partnering with the Red Cross for the campaign. Each was challenged to develop ideas on how spreading word of the agency’s services and raise money. Campaign results will be announced June 9, with two major awards presented for the biggest fundraiser and the most creative method.
