Red Cross, volunteers deliver flood relief

The Mower County Chapter of the American Red Cross thanks the Mower County Community for your help and support in the flood recovery efforts.

This month when flood waters rushed through our communities the Red Cross was there as more than 80 trained volunteers went into action immediately. Your financial contributions to the chapter in the past helped us recruit and train these volunteers, plan for disasters, and respond without hesitation when disaster did strike.

The outpouring of support from area businesses was a huge part of the response. We would like to recognize all of the businesses that contributed to the flood relieve effort.

During this relief operation we have provided motel rooms, clothes and food for 15 families, served nearly 1,300 meals and snacks and have distributed 145 clean-up kits. This is considered a chapter response, not a national relief operation, so the chapter will need to raise the money to cover the expenses.

Our financial commitments to date are $8,245 and we have received $5,658 in donations. This leaves us with a gap today of $2,587.If you would like to donate to the Mower County Red Cross Flood Recovery Fund please send your check to Mower County Chapter, 305 4th Ave NW, Austin, MN 55912 or use you credit card please call the chapter at 507-437-4589.
