Richard D. Molde — Stewartville

STEWARTVILLE — The funeral for Richard D. Molde will be at 11 a.m. Friday at River of Life Assembly of God Church in Stewartville, with Rev. Michael Hilger officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Stewartville.

Mr. Molde, 78, a longtime Stewartville resident, died Sunday (Nov. 16, 2008) at his home, of complications of diabetes.

Richard Dean Molde was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Milwaukee. His family moved to Austin in 1935, where he grew up and graduated from Austin High School in 1948. He enlisted in the Navy and served on the submarine USS Sea Robin during the Korean War. Following his discharge, in 1952, he worked as a carpenter for his father’s business, Miller-Molde Construction in Austin, in home building. On Sept. 19, 1953, he married Berniece Wyant. The couple lived in Austin before moving to Stewartville in 1957. He was employed at IBM in maintenance from 1957 to his retirement in 1989. Mrs. Molde worked for several years at Lake Center Industries in Stewartville.

Mr. Molde was a past member of the Rochester Assembly of God and a longtime member of the River of Life Assembly of God Church in Stewartville. He volunteered many hours in the maintenance of the church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, flowers, birds, animals and going to coffee.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Nancy (Tom) Allen of Kasson and Jane (Joe) Himmer of Stewartville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Diane (Dave) Dammen of Austin. He was preceded in death by a son, Bill; and his parents, Dean and Irene (Neib) Molde.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, and an hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

The family suggests memorials to the River of Life Assembly of God Church.
