ROCHESTER -- A memorial service for Rita Mary Fix will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.
Mrs. Fix, 63, of Rochester, a retired Mayo Clinic employee, died of multiple myeloma Saturday (July 19, 2003) at Seasons Hospice, where she had been a patient seven weeks.
Rita Mary Bernard was born June 8, 1940, in Rochester. She married Jacob "Jake" Fix June 20, 1959, and they were later divorced. Mrs. Fix retired from Mayo Clinic in 1997. She enjoyed camping and spending time at her cabin.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Lynette) of Oronoco and Jerrold (Tanja) of Stewartville; a daughter, Jeanne (Brad) Fischer of Stewartville; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Horsman of Rochester and Delores Bernard, both of Rochester; and a brother, Ralph Bernard of Alabama. Two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
