ALBERT LEA -- The Riverland men's and women's golf teams each hosted a meet on Thursday at the Green Lea Golf Course.
The men's event was a five-team meet which was won by Ridgewater with a team total of 316 strokes. Only two teams tallied a score in the women's meet which was won by Riverland with a 292 total.
Rochester Community and Technical College was second in the men's meet with 317, Minneapolis was next at 336, Riverland finished fourth with a 338, and Bethany Lutheran of Mankato rounded out the meet with a 353 total.
The meet medalist for the men was Josh Bargfrede from RCTC with a 75. The highest finisher for the Riverland Blue Devils was Dan Breuer, who was fourth overall with a 78 on the day.
"It was a disappointing round for Dan, because it was on his home course and he's used to shooting a lower score," Riverland coach Dave Lillemon said.

"All of our other scores were in the 80s which shows that we're not there yet as a team. We're very young and haven't consistently put together four good scores. But there's still three weeks before the state and region, and our scores can go much lower than we've shown."
On the women's side, Riverland beat Bethany by 10 strokes. This was the first win for the Lady Devils over Bethany in nearly a decade.
"That's the first time we've beaten Bethany in my seven years of coaching women's golf," Lillemon said. "These girls have practiced hard and they're excited about the team win."
Carissa Gabrielson of Riverland was the meet medalist with a score of 88. Alison Stutzman was also under the century mark with a 99 round for the Lady Devils. Only three scores are needed for the women's team tally.
Riverland's scheduled meet at Brainerd has been cancelled for this weekend. The Blue Devils will instead take part in a triangular at the course in Blue Earth on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Minneapolis and Bethany.
