A four-run eighth inning on Wednesday night helped the Rochester Roadrunners to their first Twin Rivers League win in a month of Sundays. Rochester beat the Stewartville/Racine Sharks 7-5 in Stewartville. The win snaps a five-game losing skid for the Roadrunners.
With the game tied 3-3, Vin Carlson led off the Rochester eighth with a double. He went to second on Andy Passe's bunt hit and scored on Jeremy Christie's single. After a fielder's choice put runners on first and third, Luis Gonzalez singled to score Passe. A walk and two wild pitches led to the final two runs.
The Sharks took a 2-0 lead in the third inning.
Passe was the winning pitcher; he worked 22⁄3; innings in relief of starter Ted Bauer. Stewartville/Racine starter Todd Garnatz, who struck out seven over 72⁄3; innings, took the loss.
The Roadrunners are 5-9 in league play, 7-10 overall, and play Pine Island on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Hudson Field.
