Robber flees after wife shouts ‘police’

A 74-year-old Wisconsin man was attacked by a robber who fled when the victim’s wife yelled "police."

The couple was walking from the Kahler Grand Hotel to their car parked in the hotel’s ramp about 8:50 p.m. Saturday when the man was attacked, said Rochester police Capt. Brian Winters The victim was hit on the head with an object. The woman, who had stayed in the entryway to the hotel, opened the door and yelled "police," and the suspect ran away. Winters said broken pieces of a coffee mug were found. The victim suffered a cut on his head.

In another incident, about 5:50 a.m. Sunday, a 37-year-old Rochester man said he was robbed by three men who had given him a ride. Winters said the victim took a ride from people he recognized. He said they drove around, pulled over in the 3700 block of Third Street Northwest and allegedly assaulted him, taking some money from him and pushing him out of the pickup. Winters said the victim was unable to describe the robbers.
