AUSTIN -- The funeral for Robert Arthur Griese Sr. was Monday at Church and Chapel Funeral Home in New Berlin, Wis. Burial was in Highland Memorial Park.
Mr. Griese, 71, of Milwaukee, formerly of Austin, died Friday (May 30, 2003) at his home.
Born June 19, 1931, in Austin, he grew up in Austin and joined the Army when he was 16. On June 27, 1951, he married Charlene Williams in Petaluma, Calif. She preceded him in death. Mr. Griese was a retired Briggs and Stratton Corp. employee.
Survivors include six sons, Robert Jr. (Roberta), Kirby (Jill), Kenneth (Sharon), Duane, Charles (Doreen) and Jonathan (Cheryl), all of Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Harlan (MaryJo) of Austin; four sisters, Laurabel (William) Taster of Stewartville, Judith (Franklin) Goertz of Rochester, Janice (Roger) Jorgenson of Austin and Patricia (James) Crofoot of Oronoco; and special friend, Jeanette Henning of Milwaukee. Two grandchildren and two brothers preceded him in death.
