ST. CHARLES -- A funeral Mass for Robert D. Jones, a lifelong farmer, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Charles Borremo Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
Mr. Jones, 76, of St. Charles, died Friday (July 4, 2003) in Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born July 28, 1926, in Eyota. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Dorothy Schmidt in Bassdrop, Texas, on Nov. 3, 1945. A lifelong farmer, he also worked at Menards in Chester and O.J. Motors in St. Charles for a short time. He was a member of St. Charles Borremo Catholic Church and enjoyed reading, playing cards and the organ.
Surviving are his wife; seven children, Bernadett (Kenneth) Markson of Mazeppa, Terry (Jean Marie) of St. Charles, Robert (Ann) Jones Jr., of England; Rick (Gina) of Dover, Tim (Rosey) of St. Charles; Jim (Sheryl) of Boyd, Wis., and Brent (Paulette) of Lewiston; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes–St.; Charles Chapel from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. There will be Christian prayer services at 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
