ROCHESTER -- Services for Robert W. Hoppin were in Tucson, Ariz.
Mr. Hoppin, 85, of Tucson, formerly of Rochester and Kasson, died March 11, 2002, at his home.
Born in 1916 in Grand Meadow, he graduated from Elkton High School in 1934 and from Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis. He married Harriet Rowley in 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mr. Hoppin was a welder for Standard Oil in Duluth during World War II, and then worked in heating, air conditioning, sheet metal and plumbing until his retirement. He lived in Kasson and Rochester while employed by Alpeck Sheet Metal. From 1955 to 1963 he owned Hoppin Plumbing and Heating in Cannon Falls and then worked for the Lennox dealership in Marshalltown, Iowa, for eight years before moving to Tucson in 1970. He retired from Hughes Aircraft in Tucson in 1983.
