AUSTIN — The memorial service for Roderick Oren "Biddy" Morem will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Austin. The service will be given by Jon Best.
Mr. Morem, 79, of Austin, died Saturday (April 18, 2009), following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born Jan. 3, 1930, to Oren and Gilma Morem, in Spring Grove. He lived and attended elementary school in Harmony. In 1941, his family moved to Austin, and he graduated from Austin High School. For 39 years he was employed by the Geo. A. Hormel Co. in the tin shop. He retired in 1986. For the last nine years he enjoyed working full-time as a security guard at Hormel, until March 6, 2009.
Mr. Morem is survived by his wife, Dolores; seven children, Jenny Morem (Roger Diggins) of Austin, Brad (Kathryn) Morem of Scottsdale, Ariz., Melanie (Larry) Janssen of Rose Creek, Kathy (Mike) Fontana of Scottsdale, Beth (Ed) Lopez of Globe, Ariz., Doug (Katie) Morem of Red Wing and Lee (Mary) Morem of Blooming Prairie; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Morem of Austin and Gary Morem of Cincinnati, Ohio, three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an older brother, Robert "Bobby" Morem.
Friends may visit with the family prior to the service Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m.
