AUSTIN — A funeral Mass for Rose Helen Smith will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin.
Rose Smith, 95, died Sunday (April 19, 2009) at the Cedar View Care Center in Owatonna.
She took great pride in being a devoted wife and mother, and took pleasure in perfecting her bread, roll and pastry baking skills. Her creations were much sought after at church bake sales, and by her family in particular. She was honored as Volunteer of the Month by the Austin Daily Herald for faithfully tending to the special needs of seniors at Austin’s Senior Center.
Survivors include her children, Marilyn Langeslay of Vadnais Heights, Minn., and Allan (Pat) Smith of Owatonna; six grandchildren, Scott (Liann) Smith, Michele Smith (Gerry Bosak), Peggy (Bruce) Jindra, Jeffrey Smith, Lynn (Mark) Ettl and Cheryl Jameson; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Merrill; her parents, Frank and Anna Plzak; sisters, Ella Plzak and Olive Skaran; a brother-in-law, Albert Skaran; and a grandson, Jeffrey Allan Smith.
Friends may call an hour before the service at the church.
