The Rochester Royals Class B amateur baseball team received another solid start from Mark Skrukrud, and a clutch home run by Joe Duda that led to a 6-1 win over the Minneapolis Angels on Thursday at Mayo Field.
Skrukrud started strong. He lost his bid for a perfect game with two outs in the top of the fifth inning. He pitched six innings to earn the win, giving up two hits while walking one.
Skrukrud is 2-3. "Skrukrud looked good," Royals manager Jeff Milene said. "His first two losses were 1-0…; He looks sharp."
The Royals scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first, then tacked on three more in the sixth, thanks in part to Duda's two-run homer to right field.
The Royals (11-6 overall) travel to Austin on Sunday to face the Greyhounds.
