Royals earn big win

The Rochester Royals picked up one of their most impressive wins of the season, defeating Chaseburg/Coon Valley 10-5 on Wednesday night.

Chaseburg/Coon Valley came into the game with a 25-3 record.

Adam Sikkink had another strong outing on the mound for the Royals (13-9). Sikkink went six innings, allowing two runs on nine hits, while striking out seven. "He consistently threw strikes and pitched out of several jams," Royals manager Dan Hoefs said.

Josh Matti had a two-run single in the four-run fifth, and Nate Neis and Tom Corcoran added RBIs in the frame.

Matti paced the Royals at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Tim Oesterlin was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jim Strain added a pair of hits.


The Royals return to action at 7:30 tonight in Faribault.

Roadrunners fall to LC

The Rochester Roadrunners had their four-game winning streak snapped with Wednesday’s 6-3 loss to La Crescent at Hudson Field.

The Roadrunners missed plenty of scoring chances. They had nine hits and stranded 13 runners, including leaving the bases loaded twice.


"We had plenty ofchances, but we just couldn’t come up with the key hit," Roadrunners manager Bernie Carlson said.

La Crescent pitcher Levi Adonk went the distance to earn the victory. He scattered nine hits, while striking out seven and walking nine.

Matt Kosel and Matt Bologna paced the Roadrunner offense. Kosel went 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI. Bologna was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI.

The Roadrunners dropped to 13-7 overall. They return to action Friday at Hudson field against the Rochester Blues.
