ORONOCO -- The funeral for Rubert Floyd Closner will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island with Chaplain Stacy Sikes officiating. Burial will be in Oronoco Cemetery with military graveside rites by Charles Cowden American Legion Post 814 of Pine Island.
Mr. Closner, 87, of Oronoco, a retired farmer, died Monday (April 15, 2002) at Zumbrota Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Berne and grew up in the Pine Island area. On March 12, 1947, he married Myrtle P. Klennert in Zumbrota and they farmed in rural Oronoco. Mr. Closner was a member of Charles Cowden American Legion Post 814 of Pine Island and Zumbro Falls VFW Post 1802, and was formerly active in Swanson-Owen VFW Post 9647 in Oronoco, where he was a charter member. He enjoyed woodworking and reading.
Survivors include a son, Caryl of Oronoco, and a daughter, Charlene Closner of Rosemount, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and an hour before the service Monday at the funeral hone.
