Ruby M. Krey Odekirk — Dodge Center

DODGE CENTER — The funeral for Ruby M. Krey Odekirk will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center, with the Rev. Robert Lentz officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Dodge Center.

Mrs. Odekirk, 83, of Dodge Center, died Sunday (Feb. 11, 2007) at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.

Ruby Mae Posey was born May 26, 1923, in Mantorville. She married Herman Krey on Aug. 9, 1944, in Mantorville. He died in 1977. On May 5, 1990, she married Arvid Odekirk in Dodge Center. Mr. Odekirk preceded her in death in December 2001. She had worked as a cook, nurse’s aid and activity director at Fairview Care Center, Dodge Center, and Dodge County Home Health Care, and also did seasonal work at the Dodge Center canning factory. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and enjoyed traveling, crocheting and playing cards. She spent three winters in Texas with her daughter and son-in-law.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Larry) Behsman of Elysian, Minn., Verna (Richard) Boss of Owatonna and Tammy Krey of Dodge Center; a son, James (Denise) Krey of Dodge Center; and a sister, Gloria (Ernie) Holt of Rochester. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Thomas Behsman, Troy Behsman, Lisa Bock, Jennifer Krey and Andrea Krey; and five great-grandchildren, William, Michael, Jack, Allison and Brooke Behsman. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center, and an hour before the service Thursday at the church. A prayer service will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
